New Year's Evening Ennui

These photos were taken on New Year's Eve. Yes, that was quite some time ago, but at the beginning of January always comes a flood of ugly party photos with drunk people's red faces on them. These are nothing like it. My lovely friends, glitter, fur, velvet, disco - it was a good, good night, full of shiny things and silly deeds.

Rainbow Girl

After spending too much time online looking at tumblr girls with groovy hair, I finally decided to follow the amazing dip-dye mermaid hair trend!

I wasn't really sure whether it would look good, considering the fact I do not possess long, beautiful, blonde hair, which is the most common hair style when it comes to dip-dyeing, but it actually turned out pretty damn cool. I love it! It is just the right amount of colour that gives my whole appearance an interesting twist. Even the dullest outfit suddenly seems pretty rad with this unexpected pop of colour on my head. My dad however, is not so enthusiastic about my new look. He said it looks like algae started growing on my hair. Maybe I truly am becoming a mermaid!

With Love,

Pie

EDIT: 12.10.2012, I re-dyed my hair!

Boys We Love: Ryan Gosling

I just watched Drive again. And if it weren't so late, I'd watch it again. I just love everything about the movie, and I don't even know whether it's critically acclaimed or said to be crap, but who cares?
The Driver is one of my favourite movie characters ever (next to Margot, Enid, Jim Stark and Sailor, to list a few). Everything he says (and it's really not much) is so dramatic and intense and misterious yet soft and quiet and polite. I think I didn't breathe during the elevator scene at all. I won't post a link because you absolutely have to see it in the context of the whole movie if you haven't already. I'm seriously considering buying a jacket with an embroidered golden scorpion on the back.

Drive is not the only reason I've been obsessing over Mr. Gosling. It's also his feminist sensibilities that are (probably) all made up, but he seems convincing enough to me.
I even liked him in Crazy, Stupid, Love. It was the kind of movie that makes me depressed after watching it, but, still, Ryan.

He also has a band, called Dead Man's Bones which reminds me a bit of Mumford&Sons, and in this video they're performing live on a cemetery.

He (supposedly) says he had no friends until he was 14 or 15, and was in a special-needs class because of an attention deficit disorder.

It's not even my thing to have celebrity crushes and I'm 19 so according to social conventions I should already be past this phase, I think. But no one is going to tell me what to do and I like Ryan Gosling. I just think he's not a douchebag (although I like douchebags as well so I'm not making a relevant point here).

Oh and I forgot to mention his performance with Justin Timberlake on Mickey Mouse Club in 1993.
Need I say more?

Sincerely, Rapunzel

Lila Pause

My recent DIY projects have been: glueing pieces of a broken mirror to a collar, glueing red flowers onto an old hairband, and curling my hair with an old Philips heat styler I found in the garage. Also, drawing a cat and some pyramids that are trying to be threedimensional.

I remembered Lila Pause today. It was my favourite snack when I was around 10 and I can't imagine why they stopped producing them because they were hugely popular at that time. My favourite was strawberry.

Owl Attack!
I'm currently trapped in a game called studying law. And it's weird. I love it and hate it at the same time. Last year, when I was still deciding on what to study a friend of mine said: "Law? Well I think you will find yourself there. It will broaden your horizons!" She was right. Almost everyday I discover, piece by piece, how the system works, we discuss different dilemmas regarding law and justice and I'm often quite amazed by complexity of law in general. Also, I realised how much responsibility you have to accept as a judge, making decisions that will quite possibly change someone's life. You simply have to do your best all the time. I could go on and on describing things that impressed me during lectures this year, which is very good. I think I found my niche. In a way.

There are also many things that trouble me. I'm not completely sure if this is what I truly want. Yes, it interests me a lot and studying for hours and hours is not a problem for me. But. Oh there is always a but. I don't have a clear vision of what I want to do in my life. I don't know if I'm willing to work my ass off only to realize at 40 that I did nothing but study and work and that youth slipped away without me even noticing. Also, I don't quite fit into the image of a law student. Law students don't wear flower head-bands, tulle skirts, flatform shoes and pastel lipsticks. They don't do cool collages, they don't indie-dance their shoes off or spend the majority of their free time making how-to-escape-to-Berlin plans with their best friend. They simply do not. Therefore I feel lonely at uni and I don't know if this is ever going to change.

To sum up. Is being interested in what you study enough to ignore the fact that you don't actually like the social environment you are in? Who knows. I guess I will have to wait and see what happens.

With love, Pie.

Bubbles!

Oh how lovely it would be to float above Paris right now, dressed in super classy clothes and being very lady-like with an extremely cool vehicle.
This is the Bubble series which was created in 1963 by Melvin Sokolsky for Harper's Bazaar. Isn't it great? The model is so beautiful. Alone in a big plastic bubble, but not lonely. She has her own world within a world, where she is comfortable, content and untouchable.
Not to mention  this was years before photoshop was invented!

MSGM

Internet can be extremely inconvenient when you have to study political economy. A five minute break often turns into a whole hour of scrolling down on 9gag or stalking on Facebook. But spending studytime online can sometimes bring you to wonderful places! With lots of cool clothes. Last night I found this italian brand MSGM. It was love at first sight.

I've just realised this is a great example of gaining a helluva lot of consumer profit even though you are spending quite an amount of money. Pretty clothes be mine.

Out of the bubble

In the last few weeks, so many things have changed. Highschool was safe, known, comfortable. Holidays were fabulous. Uni is none of that.

I don’t like college life very much. You meet new people and you have coffees and lunches with them and you smalltalk until you’re tired of pointless conversations and just want to go home. And I am not even enjoying wearing violet fur or going over the top with accessories, because that makes you feel like an outcast, not fabulous at all, as there is no one there to appreciate it. Most of medicine students wear ugly sweaters from year '02 and sport shoes.

We do however, appreciate old friends even more now, and when we’re not educating, let it be economy or anatomy, we’re trying to maintain sanity by doing stuff that we like, say

...lunches with old friends

white girls eating salads and a blue boy, in a restaurant in Ljubljana

...photography... I found my grandfather's Zorki-4 a while ago, but am still learning how to use it. As it doesn't have a light meter, and I don't have any knowledge of photography, most of the photos are blurry, underexposed, or not there at all. But I'm having lots of fun with it!

...dreamy songs... This one really fits my mood lately

...having a fur-and-dark-lipstick-wearing alter ego at night... oh yes, we are still Rapunzel&Pie, and fabulous too!
We recently attended a fashion show with a slovenian fashion blogger Eva Ana, who took the photo below. For more, check out her blog, all around eve.

WE ARE

My photo
Best friends who are quite bored all the time and whose greatness and awesomeness is being ignored by society. Besides that, they love glittery makeup, things that shine in the dark or randomly fly in space, analogue photography, kitsune maison compilations, cats, dogs, and of course, alpacas. C'est ça.
