morning melancholia

Hello darlings,
these photos were taken on the 1st of January. We woke up tired, outside was grey, cold and uninviting. We were anything but excited about the new year starting, it would be nice to just freeze time the previous night, keep alive the feeling of something new coming. Rather, we woke up to see the same city, same houses, same clouds, to find out that the weight of life we felt the previous year didn't go away. But isn't it always so? I've never met anyone who would change themselves or their lives just because they've reached a certain year or age. Oh, it's 2013, let's do more sports. No.

Only when your habits, mind processes or looks become unbearable to you, when you can't live with them anymore, you gather strength to make a change.

Aren't they lovely, my friends, my dearests?

Sincerely,

Rapunzel

  1. I know that feeling, how everything just starts over instead of changing for the better. It sometimes feels hopeless to even bother.

  2. I read once that people usually make changes when someone new comes along.. and no sooner.

    1. But isn't this a bit sad, what if nobody ever comes? I actually think that real changes can only be made when they come from inside you, when they are not triggered by someone else, because only then you know they can last.

  3. I made a mental decision to make a change recently, but so far, i don't feel very different, if that makes sense...
The lighting is beautiful in these pictures xxxx

    1. mental decisions are good, I don't have such a thing as will power, though. But I'm sure you will succeed at whatever change you're trying to make! I agree, morning light works beautifully on photos Xx

  5. I know what you mean. I'm always disappointed after loads of supposedly significant moments, because I thought things would change, or that I would change, completely spontaneously, and then...well...didn't. Haha. I love these photos, they are really atmospheric. It reminds me of me and my friends the night after a rave. We all bundle into bed together and re-live the night :)

    really cool post xoxo

WE ARE

My photo
Best friends who are quite bored all the time and whose greatness and awesomeness is being ignored by society. Besides that, they love glittery makeup, things that shine in the dark or randomly fly in space, analogue photography, kitsune maison compilations, cats, dogs, and of course, alpacas. C'est ça.
